One of the several ways to backup your iPhone data is via Mac. In this tutorial, I show to you, with illustrations; how to backup your iPhone data onto a Mac.
In one of my recent posts, I have already discussed how to backup your iPhone data onto iCloud, which is another Apple product designed purposefully for use on all Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod etcetera.
Being another Apple product itself, backing up your iPhone data to your Mac is expected to be easy, friendly, flawless and fast. And as expected, that's exactly what it is.
Similar to backing up your iPhone data onto iCloud, backing up your iPhone data onto a Mac is so smooth and straightforward that you don't really have to download or install any programs on your Mac. - just plug and go!
That's enough a story. Now, how can you backup your iPhone data to a Mac?
How to Back Up Your iPhone to a Mac
To backup your iPhone data including contacts, photos, videos, music, calendar, iCloud Drive, iCloud Mail, Notes, Settings among other data to a Mac; you'll need to:

Connect your iPhone to a Mac
To connect your iPhone to a Mac for this purpose, you'll need a compatible USB cable for your iPhone. Particularly, an Apple certified USB cable is recommended.

Open a Finder Window
To open a Finder Window on a Mac, you can either click the half-blue, half-gray icon in your Mac's Dock or by left-clicking the desktop and hitting the
Command + N
keys on your keyboard at the same time.

Finder on Mac uses windows and icons to show you the contents of your Mac, iCloud Drive, and other storage devices. It's called the Finder because it helps you to find and organize your files on a Mac.

Select your iPhone in the Left Sidebar
Once a Finder window is opened, you can look to the left of the window, you should see your iPhone’s name appear in the left sidebar of your Finder window under Locations.

Finally, Click Backup
Once you have clicked on your iPhone's name from the previous step, the next window that opens should display several information or details about your iPhone. Among this information, you should see an option that says, 'Back Up Now'.
If you don’t see this, click the General tab near the top of the Finder window. To back up all your data, ensure you also check the circle next to Back up all the data on your iPhone to this Mac.
Once clicked, the Back Up procedures will commence almost immediately. Although, it will take a while for the back up to be saved on your Mac, make sure not to disconnect your iPhone until the backup is complete.
Hints
Now that the backup process has been initiated, all you need to do now is to wait patiently for your iPhone to backup on the Mac.
Depending on the volume of the data you have on your iPhone, this process might take several minutes. Remember not to disconnect your iPhone from the Mac until the backup process is complete.
